Brookfield Energia Renovável is focused on developing and managing hydroelectric power plants in Brazil. It manages and operates Brookfield Asset Management’s power assets in the country, which are mostly Small Hydroelectric Power Plants (SHPPs).
Brookfield Energia Renovável became operational in 2003 with the SHPPs of Pedrinho and Salto Natal (State of Paraná), and since then, has developed into the largest SHPP owner and operator in Brazil, having 35 SHPPs (626MW capacity). It also manages Itiquira Energética S.A., a 156MW Hydroelectric Power Plant (HPP) with two powerhouses located in Mato Grosso.
